The Nightingale Hotel

The building was originated as a private guest house, known as Blenheim, in the late 1800s by members of the Court of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It was converted soon after this period and was called The Blenheim Guest House.

The Nightingale is named after “Ode to the Nightingale” written by English poet John Keats (1795-1821) who is said to have found inspiration in Shanklin.
Today, The Nightingale Hotel Bar & Restaurant is a three Red Skull, dark victorian, boutique style hotel in Shanklin situated on the top of the cliff with spectacular unobstructed sea views.
Boasting its Gothic Victorian Style Décor throughout, The Nightingale’s upmarket and Rock n Roll vibe offers an exceptional and unique experience. Known for our wild parties and weekend entertainment, The Nightingale is a place where one can rest during the week and party on the weekends.

Our location is perfect: Shanklin’s traditional seaside amenities are all close by - the Shanklin Esplanade, glorious sandy beach and breath-taking panoramic views from the Shanklin Cliff Path of the White Cliffs of Culver.

Bar & Restaurant

At our luscious Victorian Dining Room, with its dark décor, guests may enjoy the finest quality produce, all locally sourced, cooked to perfection by our talented Chefs. We specialise in grill meats and fish but also accommodate for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free and people with allergies. Open to Non-Residents.

Afternoon Tea is also available prior booking, all cakes & scones are home-made.

The Bar offers a huge cocktail menu, specially selected array of French & Italian wines, spirits, beer and locally brewed ales. With live music entertainment every weekend, performed by local artists playing jazz, rock, 20s, and more. Our themed parties are every other week and go on till the late hours of the night.

Bar menu available daily between 12.00pm – 11pm, served in the bar or in the garden overlooking the cliff.
Room Service is available 8am-11pm at a £10 room service and gratuity charge
